Maintaining collaboration

You need to set a clear communication strategy in place to ensure that collaboration is maintained and that involves outlining how often communication is planned to take place. To ensure that objectives are met, all issues and concerns need to be shared and all partners need to agree on appropriate action and timings. It is important that issues are addressed and discussed at the appropriate level to make sure they are resolved early.

Members of your consortium need to speak regularly to one another about the direction and agree on the strategic outcomes of the partnership. It is important that you hold regular meetings at appropriate levels for decision-making, information gathering and exchange between all members of your consortium.

It is essential for the successful functioning of the partnership that all your members are able to build an appropriate degree of trust. Without trust lessons cannot be learned and the consortium is likely to become ineffective and dysfunctional.

You all need to be open and honest with each other. If achieving any of your objective/s is likely to be compromised you need to be prepared and to build in contingency plans in good time.
