Programme design

A key factor in achieving success within employer facing provision is the design and delivery of a programme that delivers and builds sustainable capability, supporting the business in achievement of its objectives. This can, of course, be complex. This is most notable when faced with the varying dynamics and cultures of organisations, variable skills bases and the need for flexible, cost-effective solutions. It is also challenged by the requirement to recognise the needs of the employee, the constraints of the programme of study and the ability to accommodate employee time during normal working hours – particularly with hourly paid personnel.

In order to provide successful learning opportunities your trainers should plan and deliver a programme of study which links directly to the development needs of the organisation, links learning to the broader skills for employability, lifelong learning and basic skills, delivers flexible programmes in line with employee and employer needs and ensures that teaching and learning resources inspire, motivate and engage all learners to deliver against agreed targets.

Your organisation will have access to a wide range of quality assured provision that meets the generic needs of local employers and the self-employed. All your staff will be aware of and will offer a wide range of assessment and qualifications.

Initially, staff design the most suitable interventions that will enable employers to improve their organisational performance and meet stated needs (e.g. through the most cost effective provision). Programmes are always designed in a flexible, employer friendly way and tend to be informed by the outcomes of training needs analysis of the company, making opportunities for the design of customised and bespoke training including full cost provision available. This includes shared provision with other providers, as it is part of your research and disseminated practice to make staff aware of other quality providers who can enhance your offer to meet employers needs.

Your staff are trained in how to develop training solutions to meet identified business outcomes through use of accredited and non-accredited qualifications, development of customised provision and design of bespoke training. Your service standards or service level agreements make certain that there are constant updates and feedback to both the employer and the employee to ensure programmes are continuing to meet needs, and changes are made if necessary e.g. changes to programme delivery and/or assessment can be made if required.

You organise regular meetings with your customer and their employees to monitor progress and discuss impacts against planned interventions. After a period of consolidation, the impact of your interventions on the company, employee and on your own organisation are measured and findings are used to influence both future training for the employer and in the design of programmes for other providers.
