Quality assurance

Assuring the quality of your delivery is of utmost importance, as without a quality approach your customers will not return and your reputation in the marketplace will not be good. The Quality Improvement process (Ofsted/ALI) requires that quality assurance processes are in place for all aspects of service delivery.

Ensuring quality is a managed process, as consistent approaches to Train to Gain are employed across the organisation. The normal observation of teaching and learning practices can be adapted to suit learner induction, assessment in the workplace and on-site delivery. This will determine feedback on how training is adapted to meet workplace practice and teaching materials and methods are suitable for the specific work context. Also that the quality of training is fit for purpose. All training can follow your annual course review cycle and feed into your self assessment report, and actions identified and planned for.

However ensuring quality of any partners or contractors is a more difficult task, and one that has to be determined at the outset of the partnership. You could have reciprocal arrangements for assuring quality of each other’s provision, or the lead partner in the training could take responsibility. Either way, if you have developed flexible delivery with a partner or contractor you must assure the quality of their provision e.g. observe operations of contractors offering services to your learners, and assess quality of provision delivered to determine performance. You will need to determine methodology to be used, agree when this will take place explain the purpose of this and what you will be looking at and for. Findings should be reported to the contractor through an observation report, and an action plan will then be agreed to include action points, person responsible, together with a timescale and a date for monitoring of actions. Annual findings again will feed into the College’s overall Self Assessment report.
