Identifying business needs
Employers do not always know what they need. They may have a problem, but not know how to solve it. You will therefore provide a service to help employers to identify their training and/or development needs. This will include helping them through the use of an organisational needs analysis (ONA) or training needs analysis (TNA). The service you provide will include information, advice and guidance on education and training provision for individuals and employers and diagnostic assessment of company and individuals’ skills gaps. Staff will be trained in the use of these tools, to advise employers on the most suitable training opportunities available, both from within your organisation or from another quality organisation if you are unable to offer the solution yourself.
Using a training needs analysis tool will enable you quickly to gain a good understanding of the business. If this tool is used at the initial meeting with the employer it can provide information vital in the design and delivery of a programme which the employer will commit to. The training needs analysis can provide background on the present skills sets of the employer, perception of those skills sets by the employer and the
Employees, the skills sets likely to be required in the future, a gap analysis of any shortfalls in perceptions of skills sets or an actual shortfall, the culture of the organisation and their commitment to training, and the level of experience and educational background of the workforce. This information can be supplemented with competitor data and market predictions and developments affecting the business.
