Engaging employers
Employer engagement is a key focus of your management at all levels.
Employers can be engaged in education and training at both strategic and operational levels. It is important to secure employers’ involvement in the design, development, management and delivery of all your learning provision. This can be achieved via employer liaison groups, local and regional employer networks, and national events.
Employers from different vocational sectors can take active roles as governors, or they can work with you, offering valuable advice and guidance to ensure your provision meets the needs of the current workforce. Their input can be invaluable in helping with curriculum development and design. They can also offer your staff opportunities to return to industry to update their own skills.
With your help, employers can identify their own needs to help you customise your programmes to meet specific business development needs.
Whatever form your employer engagement takes, it is vital to ensure that you identify, develop, adapt and evaluate all your employer engagement activities as part of an ongoing cycle of activity.
